Official schedule for the Inaugural OYFF !

Our program features a range of short films from talented young filmmakers, grouped by age. Explore innovative works from the 15-17, 18-21, and 22-24 year old age groups across three blocks of films. Enjoy live performances and an inspiring keynote session, and join us in celebrating the winners during the awards ceremony.

As the doors open, attendees are welcomed into the festival space to settle in and get ready for a day of exciting films and performances. Take a moment to explore the venue and meet fellow film enthusiasts.

The festival kicks off with a warm welcome from the co-founders as well as a keynote speech from the film commissioner of the Ottawa Film Office, Sandrine Pechels de Saint Sardos. You will learn about the festival's goals, highlights, and what to expect throughout the day. 

The first block of films showcases a curated selection of short films created by young filmmakers in the 15-17 year old age group. Experience a range of genres and storytelling styles as these emerging talents share their unique visions and perspectives.

Enjoy a captivating live performance that adds an artistic touch to the festival. 

The second block of films presents another lineup of engaging and thought-provoking shorts from filmmakers in the 18-21 year old age group. Discover fresh narratives, innovative techniques, and creative approaches to storytelling from these talented individuals.

Take a break from the screenings and immerse yourself in another mesmerizing live performance. This interlude enhances the festival experience and showcases different forms of artistic talent.

The final block of films features short films made by filmmakers in the 22-24 year old age group. This selection includes standout pieces that leave a lasting impact on the audience and represent the pinnacle of young filmmaking talent.

The awards ceremony celebrates the exceptional work of young filmmakers. Winners in various categories are recognized for their achievements, creativity, and dedication to the art of film. Followed by the festival's wrap up with a heartfelt thank you to attendees, participants, and supporters. Reflect on the day's highlights and accomplishments as the event comes to a close, leaving you inspired and excited for next year's festival.
